Prayer
Prayer is not only an important spiritual practice within the Christian faith, but it also one of the lifelines God has given to believers. Jesus taught that men and women of the faith ought to always pray and not grow faint or weak in doing so (Luke 18:1). Within Dr. Christy Bee's life and ministry, prayer has been an important pillar to all she has done. For the rest of her life, she is devoted to not only being a woman of prayer, but also one who is devoted to gathering, teaching and leading others in how to pray.
Communication with God
In essence, prayer is a way for us to communicate with God. Essential to effective communication is not only the verbal expression of ones thoughts and emotions, but also their ability to listen to that of the other party. Therefore, an important component of prayer is listening to hear what God has to say in response to the individual engaging in this form of communication with Him.
Spiritual Discipline
Spiritual disciplines in the Christian faith are practices or tool that believers have to develop deeper intimacy with God and access His presence. In His life and ministry, Jesus prayed, so we as followers of Jesus should practice this spiritual discipline and pray as well. Prayer is one of these spiritual disciplines that when practiced by believers, allows them to understand and know God's will, receive insight and peace from time in His Presence.
A Place of Exchange
In Matthew 11:28-30 Jesus says "Come unto me all who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." In the place of prayer this exchange happens between the believer and the Savior where their burdens, worries and sins are given over to Him and they instead receive the gift of His peace, forgiveness and rest.
